On October 14-15, Baku hosted the International Ophthalmology Conference, which was held as the joint initiative of the Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Health, the National Center of Ophthalmology named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, Azerbaijan Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO) and Turkish Republics Ophthalmology Society (TROS)

The delegation of Ufa Eye Research Institute, headed by the director, Professor Mukharram M Bikbov, took part in the event.

                  

At the East-West Conference in 2021, Öner Gelişken, President of the Turkish Republics Ophthalmology Society,  was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Ufa Eye Research Institute.  At the opening ceremony of the conference Prof. Mukharram M Bikbov presented him a diploma and a professor gown.

Ophthalmologists from Turkic-speaking countries took part in the conference.  Reports were made in Russian, English, Turkish and Azerbaijan.
